IBM's look and inspiration
After hearing Joe Pesci harass Denardo in the real life call it was decided to make a cartoon series.
The cartoon series was received very well but there was no way to market it without starting trouble.
His look was designed with the voice and spirit of the calls in mind while not wanting to infringe on any actual real life person's look.
Red and blue are often associated with hero colors; Mario, Spiderman, Superman and Optimus Prime so Norman's colors were associated as he is the main character of both series'.
